Senescence California

Senescence, California is the recording project of Bay Area musician Richard Graff, working at the intersection of modular synthesis, manipulated field recordings, and long-form composition. The music resists easy categories — it is not background sound, not purely abstract, but something that asks for stillness and returns it differently.

Built from Eurorack modular systems, hardware synthesizers, and recorded environments, each piece moves at its own pace: melodies surface and dissolve, textures fold in on themselves, silence is treated as a material. The results are simultaneously industrial and organic, mechanical and breathing.

Releases appear on Bandcamp and cassette. Performances are rare. The work accumulates slowly, like sediment — or like a body aging into something it cannot name.
